We go through the city and orientate ourselves on street names, numbers, information, images.
People/strangers are invited to our studio by appointment, where we want to reflect, which effect the city had onto them. We have created a specific sitting area, for up to four people, which are sitting back to back and face a mirror. While talking they just see themselves reflected in the mirror. An image of ourselves, which we see the least often, and the only person we spend most time with.
All the talks will be taped and edited after the end of the month.
The only requirements from our side are, that people sit for the full amount of 30 min. and that they do focus on their mirror image during the whole time. Their conversation of city affects on them, are fundamental for the discussion.

THE ARTISTS
VIVIAN OUTLAW
got her Masters in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute.
Her focus is on portrait paintings.
Her latest solo show was at KultStein, an independent space for emerging
artists in Austria.
Lives and works in DUMBO/Brooklyn/NY
ISA STEIN
studied architecture in Paris, NY, and Austria. She holds a Master´s
degree in architecture and a MFA from Pratt Institute.
She had soloshows in Gallery 24/Chelsea, NY and in Austria. Besides numerous
group show, she is teaching at William Paterson University sculpture and
3-D design.

VIVIAN OUTLAW
I go to peoples private spaces and take polaroids in situations they are
most comfortable in. I see into them and paint them through my own world.
ISA STEIN
My work is about process. Whatever medium is best suitable will be used
(installation, sculpture, photography, video.) It is about using minimal
gestures to activate the viewer´s own world.
