Anca Benera & Irini Botea, INTER-COMMUNICATION, on behalf of the artists, who are in Romania, Sal Randolph will go to a public space teach 15 persons a Romanian phrase: "Eu fac ce mi s-a spus sa fac" which means "I am doing what I was told to do". Location & time TBA.

Michael Cunningham, THE WHOLE STORY BEGINS BEFORE THE BEGINNING, ENDS AFTER THE END, AND EVERYBODY'S IN IT, I will write a short story in 30 parts, cut it into 30 pieces, and each day release a piece somewhere in the city. None of the 30 fragments to be released over the month of April could possibly be found by the same person; each will, like any story, be an enigmatic part of a whole we can never grasp. April 1-30.

Lauren Ewing, IN A PEACEFUL WORLD, small cards saying "In a peaceful world, 50% of the governing bodies must be women" distributed in an an eight-lobed flower shape around the World Trade Center, beginning March 31. They will be in place as long as they last.

John Perreault, ALPHABET STREETWORK, All 26 letters of the alphabet will be applied to various surfaces on the two streets and two avenues surrounding Tompkins Square Park (East 7th Street and East 10th Street; Avenue A and Avenue B). April 2, 2002, until no letters of the alphabet remain.

Michael Konrad, HARLEM RIVER RENTAL, own the river for 20 minutes by filling a parking meter that drops quarters in the water. An initial supply of quarters will be provided. Pier 107 at East 107th St. and the Harlem River. The sculpture will be on the railing near the beginning of the pier. on view April 7 and it will last an indefinite amount of time. (This project is subject to impermanance and could possibly be removed at any time.)

Phil Kline, SHADOW TRAFFIC (URBAN WORK IN PROGRESS), a work for an infinite number of boomboxes playing coordinated tapes to be carried through the streets of the Lower East Side. Begins in Tomkins Square Park at 8PM. (those wishing to carry boomboxes email boombox@mindspring.com or call 212-227-6255 & plan to arrive at 7:45) Shadow Traffic is also part of the Music at the Anthology Festival at the Angel Orensanz Center.

FREE SOUNDS CONCERT, Brooklyn radio free103.9 hosts a free concert highlighting the incredible diversity of musics being performed in Williamsburg. Including Matt LaVelle Solo Birthday Bomb, Gold Sparkle's electro-connect, Big Numbers, and DJs, Dizzy and C$, 8PM-12pm at the free103.9 radio loft, 97 S.6th St. Brooklyn, beneath the Williamsburg Bridge.

Monica Tap, SWEETHEART, a series of fridge magnets that use quotes from candied Valentine's hearts to express affection, desire, abandon and gratitude. The magnets will be placed on metal surfaces near museums and galleries in the city (MOMA, Whitney, Met, Guggenheim, New Museum, Frick, Pierpont Morgan Library, gallery districts in Chelsea, SoHo and midtown). Finders are welcome to become keepers. April 11-30

Nicole Fournier & Vincent Salvati, 50 TRASHY IDEAS, an installation in the 2nd floor restroom of the Whitney Museum, Each stall will contain a brown paper bag filled with crumpled up pieces of paper, each containing what society would consider a bad or ‘trashy’ idea. The Whitney Museum is at 945 Madison Avenue at 75th Street

Shayna Blum & others, E=MC2, a gallery & performance space showing 30 plus emerging artists working in painting, sculpture, photography, fashion, film, music, and theater. Will Pappenheimer & Gregory Ulmer SOFT WISHING Y MONUMENT, This project proposes to trace the form a wishbone or Y shape on designated streets in lower Manhattan. Lines/markers will be made from sequentially placed small pom poms following ledges, cracks, etc. The resulting formation, if only for a few moments, will suggest both the why and wish dilemmas of the September 11th destruction of the World Trade Centers. Starting the morning of the 20th.

POLIS, April 27th, from 12:30 until 6pm, everyone is invited to read poetry, present a paper, exhort, or speak at the forum at La Perla Community Garden on west 105th street just east of columbus Ave. Everyone with something to present is invited. Simply enter the garden and read or present from any location within the garden. Community members will be working in the garden. There will probably be a barbeque in process to which all the presenters are welcome. Probably, nobody will particularly listen.The garden members are receptive and looking forward to the event. Be considerate and aware of the greenery.
