ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mara Catalan was born in Madrid, Spain in 1967. She grew up in Spain and
the United States. Mara's work with photography and film has taken her
into multiple arenas in Spain she has worked as a staff photographer for
el Europeo in 1991 and collaborated with COSAS a Chile magazine while
based in New York. In New York she worked as a photographer on numerous
film projects including those directed by Hal Hartley and Tom Noonan and
with artist such as Txuspo Poyo. In 1996, while working as the photo archivist
at the Museum of Na-Bolon in San Cristobal de las casas, Chiapas, mexico
she became a stringer for the Associated press.
In New York she continues to work as a freelance photographer and as a
fine Black and White printer for Magnum Photos and other photographers.
Last year she won 3 prize in the M.I.L.K Competition.
Mara Catalan's photographic projects have come together in numerous exhibitions
and are part of Private Collections.
